Chris Mayo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 20 years of experience providing evidence-based therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia and is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia.
Chris began his clinical career providing mental health and substance use treatment for detained youth within Georgia's juvenile justice system. Since then, he has worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient and residential treatment programs, schools, foster homes, and private practice, helping individuals and families navigate a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges.
Chris specializes in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, and related conditions. He also has extensive experience working with individuals struggling with substance use disorders, addiction, and co-occurring mental health concerns. His approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practices tailored to each client's unique needs.
His therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). He works with individuals, families, and groups to help clients develop practical skills, reduce distress, and create lasting change.
Chris is a professional member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA). He regularly participates in advanced training focused on OCD and anxiety disorders to stay current with the latest research and treatment approaches, ensuring his clients receive high-quality, effective care.
